Patients' Stories: Patrick Grant Ward
 

After surgery there were some complications and he went into cardiac arrest. The doctors who were working on him were amazing and they were able to get him back to us. The complications had such and impact on his kidneys and liver that at that point they were not sure if Chemo would be an option.

Grant did bounce back and in September 2005 and had his first round of chemo. Even though his liver was still a little weak the doctors thought that this was their window of opportunity so Grant decided to take it. Seven days later on September 19, 2005 at 5:45pm we lost Grant. There was too much damage to his organs they could just not handle the chemo.

When Grant passed he was surrounded by his loving friends and family. After fighting for 4 months he was at peace and I saw that. Grant leaves behind his wife (Melissa),and beautiful daughter (Renee) as well as his family and friends. Grant brought joy into the lives of many people.
